Where our food data comes from

Food Lens uses per-100 g nutrition values from public food-composition databases. Colonoscopy Brisbane calculates how each food fits the selected eating pattern.

Open Food Facts

Ingredient and label data used for the vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free information badges is from Open Food Facts, licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL).

We store only derived true / false / unknown tags and an Open Food Facts product reference key so the tags can be re-derived later. We do not redistribute the raw Open Food Facts database.

Ingredient badges are estimates based on listed ingredients and labels. They are not clinical guarantees. The gluten-free badge is based on listed ingredients only. If you have coeliac disease or another medical dietary requirement, follow advice from your doctor or dietitian.
